Department of Business Administration is the largest component of the
Faculty of arts which thrives everyday in its academic and research
endeavours to inculcate in the prospective entrepreneurs the ideas of
business management. Four M.B.A., programs of multeity have been introduced
in the department to meet the growing demands of young learners for
appropriate placement. The faculty have received encomia from different
quarters of the academic world for earning 9 projects worth 23 lakhs of
rupees. The department has executed 6 consultancy projects worth 11 lakhs of
rupees. Both academic pursuits and research progress are in tune with the
strides made elsewhere, and the result of these endeavours motivated
researchers in qualifying themselves for a Ph.D. The department has produced
16 Ph.Ds and 31 M.Phils, 433 research papers have been published in national
and international journals. Further the department has struck 4 MOUs with
four Indian and foreign institutes and organizations. The department is on a
par with its namesake in any other institution in the country and it is
explicit in the 34 national and international seminars conducted during
2007-2012. Annamalai teachers are second to none, and in endorsement of this
claim, teachers have received 23 honours and awards in recognition of their
contributions to realm of knowledge, and surmounting all this, the
department celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2003.

Structure of the Programme: This Department offers M.B.A. (Full time) programme of 2 years duration, divided into 4 semesters.
Medium of Instruction: English
During the first semester of M.B.A. programme, general courses in Management are offered. While in second, third and fourth semesters functional and elective courses are offered. In between second and third semester, students are placed in an industrial organisation for a period of 45 days, where they take up a live management problem for their project. During this learning exercise, they test their decision making ability and also help the industrial organization in solving problems.
Periodical "Meet the Executive" programmes are organised in Metropolitan Centres to share the rich experiences of practising executives and entrepreneurs.
CFA-M.B.A. Joint Programme: This Department is an Accredited Business School of ICFAI (The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India) Hyderabad. Those students selected for admission to the M.B.A. (Full Time) programme may, if they so desire, use the facilities available in the Department, for pursuing the CFA-M.B.A. Joint Programme during the M.B.A. programme, subject to their securing admission to the Joint programme from ICFAI, Hyderabad.
Research Programme: The Department provides facilities for full time Ph.D. / M.Phil. programmes. The aspirants are requested to contact the Registrar with research proposals. Admissions are subject to the rules and regulations framed by the University.
Teaching Methods and Evaluation: The Department is using pedagogical methods which enable students to think creatively, develop interpersonal skills, and sharpen their decision making ability. Though emphasis is given to the case method, which has a pervading impact, Lectures, Discussions, Seminars, Simulation Exercises, Management Games and Role Plays all are given their due importance.
Placement: Placement cell organises campus interviews, and counsels students on career choices. It functions under the guidance of Placement Officer.
Eligiblity for admission: Graduate in any discipline
Minimum Marks: 50% Marks in Part-III (For SC/ST - A pass is the minimum qualification)
Number of Seats: 60
Mode of Selection: Candidates will be selected based on their performance in their qualifying examinations, the entrance test and the interview. The qualifying examination will carry 250 marks, the entrance test will be for 200 marks and 50 marks for the interview.
Important Note : The Candidates who have not appeared for the entrance test conducted by the Annamalai University on 18th May 2005 are not eligible for admission.
All eligible candidates will be called for an interview which they must attend at their own cost with all necessary certificates for verification.

Method of Selection
Candidates will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in Part –III and the marks obtained in the interview. The qualifying examination marks under Part-III will be reduced to 200 and that the marks obtained by the candidates at the interview out of 30 marks will be put together and the selection will be made.
Reservation of Seats:
Reservation of seats for candidates belonging to ST/ SC/ MBC/ BC/ OC communities will be made as per rules and regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Among the above reservation, 3% seats have been included for disabled persons as per norms laid down by the Government.
